I bough this to test my car AC but it can be used for cooking and many car applications. You can use this instead of the back of your hand to test if something is hot before you pick it up or touch it. Fun to test random things like cats body temp pool or beach water just about anything. The laser is just for aiming nothing else. The actual sensor rays or whatever are invisible.

Small enough to take on a service call and use to check register temperatures in offices and homes. I use it on HVAC calls and it is easier than climbing a ladder to check ceiling registers for proper air flow and even temperatures. Also works great to check circuit breakers for heat indicating a large current draw or poor connection. Keep in mind it checks surface temperature not internal.

Allows me to accurately monitor temperature

  10. Andrew Gilson

Cheap easy to use. Handy as general indicator
