I plugged one end into my Thinkpad plugged an HDMI cable from my TV into the other end and the laptop picked up the TV as a second screen. Installation time ten seconds.

I have a surface pro 3 and this connector was to connect it to the tv. Works as expected. Connect one end to the mini display port and the other to a hdmi cable connected to the tv.Some others have received hdmi cable with the order going by the reviews. I did not.
