I have a number of left over SSD drives in cases for backups getting family photos off my wife”s devices keeping records of mail history and the like. Mail is especially important for my professional activities since I have lost some as a result of equipment failure in the past.Another adapter I have would not allow my up to date MacBookPro to mount the disks (and also my wife”s newest machine). I actually bought a new USB 3.0 drive after being frustrated with this problem. As a long shot I also ordered these. For some reason they do work to mount external disks. This means they do a better job of communicating with the newest Mac ports. A bit bigger than others I had but they actually do the job. Enough said.

They work. Haven”t had any issues with them so can”t really fault them. Due to the fact USB-C is a small connector the weight of the added USB connector and cable can put a concerning amount of pressure on the socket in your computer so you really want to be gentle. I feel like a fatter moulding that gave vertical support may be better. I ended up buying short adaptor cables where required as they put less strain on the socket.
