I wanted to stream 4k movies from my main pc upstairs to my (new) laptop. Not all laptops output 4k to the screen but will output via the HDMI (check your specific model for this). I have wired network in my house but no Ethernet on my laptop (incorporating one would make it too thick just to accomodate this port). So this was a perfect and cheap solution. The USB3 is fast enough to deal with 4k and gave me a great solution.

If your laptop doesn’t have an ethernet port or your wireless connection sucks … this device is for you.
It works right out of the box and provides full download speed (as per your ISP)
Remember to disable the internal network card that the laptop will connect automatically ! – otherwise you will not see the real difference that this device can make
Excellent purchase

Now that I’m working from home I needed to plug my laptop PC into an AC home wiring-based adapter but of course it had no RJ-45 input. This thing was just what I needed.
