I was being cheap ….and did not want to send my old monitor to recycling just because my new desktop ( yeh I know. they are almost a thing of the past) did not have a DVI slot for the second monitor. The DVI to HDMI adapter did the trick. Works fine.

only had DVI on my monitor and needed to hook up a raspberry pi that is hdmi only this did the job works great and no problem with extra cables
