After I first plugged it in nothing happened. Had to restart the computer then the driver was installed by windows update (I assume). Did not have to download anything myself. Does not come with Ethernet cable.

It is full gigabit speed. I tested it with iperf (iperf3) and got 980Mb/s for a two minute test. You can”t beat that. It works with Linux (ubuntu)
