I bought this in order to increase the thru-put of one of the devices on my network which only had a built in 10/100 connection. It was simply a case of plugging in and connecting up. Setting the ip address for the connection. Then it just worked. I now get all the bandwidth I require. The device itself runs slightly warm but nothing to be concerned with.

The newer laptops do not come with an RJ-45 jack. I am old skool and prefer Ethernet Connection vs Wireless when working from home..this adapter connect right to the USB port and works fine
