I got these for one purpose: to reuse the passive DVI extension units (IOGear GVE200) with a new system that only has miniDP ports. The PC is in a rack and the monitors are in another room. To get new extension units would cost an arm and a leg. So it makes more sense to get a few cheap miniDP to DVI adapters instead. After testing units from Tripplite Startech and IOGear none passed with acceptable results. The Tripplite miniDP to DVI in conjunction with the GVE200 produced a black screen (no signal). The Startech and IOGear would work intermittently and would have no signal upon system restart.I took a chance on and decided to try one from Rankie which had glowing reviews. Being 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the big brands I had little to lose. Without much expectation the Rankie adapter worked perfectly without a single drop no matter how many times the PC was restarted. The display quality was excellent considering the video signal has been converted from miniDP to DVI then from DVI to 60 feet of Ethernet cable and then converted back to DVI.The build and packaging is really excellent. To the guy that said his adapter was scratched up/used looking I think he may be referring to the protective film that wraps the unit. Removing the film would show the pristine glossy surface. I kept mine on for .. protection.Overall I”m really glad I got these adapters and this has been a positive experience. I will definitely be looking into this brand for all adapter and cabling needs.

Works as intended. durable. I always buy Rankie when I can because they’re the only company I’ve personally found that makes reliable and durable cables.

Worked well connecting a 2011 MacBook Pro to a very old Mac Cinema HD display. The resolution was fuzzy but not due to this adapter.

I bought a new Microsoft Surface Pro 6 for when I am on the road and wanted to use my large monitor and key board when in the office. This was what I needed to do this. One part hook up and good to go. Microsoft wanted $40 for the same device.
