…..how much junk was going down my drains. Ugh. I have orchids that I water in the kitchen sink. It was always a struggle to keep bits of loose orchid bark from trying to go down the drain. These are PERFECT for that. But after using them. I just left them in the drains. Yuck. I had no clue how many tiny little bits of stuff were routinely going down my drain. Only the tiniest of bits can get in under the edges of these. Now. having said that. the best feature of these – the tiny openings – are the same thing that makes them hard to clean. Still working on that. I don’t want to waste paper towels. but “tapping the stuff” into the rubbish bin doesn’t always get it all. Every few days I run them through the dishwasher and they’re clean as new. Repeat as necessary.

We really like these drop-in inserts which do help keeping our drain lines cleaner. We have long 2 inch drains inside our house as well as a 150 foot 6 inch line to the street sewer. After trying these for the first time we saw how much organic material goes down the drain and builds up requiring professional and expensive routine cleanups. These make it easy to toss the solid material into the garbage can rather than our sewer system.
