These drain guards do a good job of catching things from going down the drain. They can be a little difficult to get back out of the sink (to empty). but that is almost a good thing because it means stuff is not sneaking in around the edges. They are also very rigid and thus easy to empty and scrub clean. Just a quick bang/tap against the side of the trash can and a couple wipes with a rag and then back into the sink! I have bought these for my own apartment and for a friend as part of a housewarming basket.
