It makes my phone easier to hold and a lot less likely to slip out of my pocket. I have not dropped it yet. so im not sure about the protection it offers from blunt force. It seems the right amount of flexable and ridged to take a hit though. The side walls protrude about 1/8 of an inch past the screen so it may not be great at taking a face plant.
