Worked exactly as advertised. I only required video and had no need for USB or audio as I wanted to extend my laptop (closed) across two monitors. This did it just fine.

Connected everything easily and everything worked just fine. Needed one because my dvi connection from my laptop doesn’t work anymore so I had go with the hdmi route from my laptop to the dvi on my extra monitor. Not sure if the plug is to power up the adapter or for the apparent audio that it can receive. Either way I didn’t notice any changes in how well it worked.

This was just what I needed to hook up an older flat screen monitor to my Lenovo Ideapad laptop. It even came with a cable for the audio which worked great. The pictures look a bit confusing but if you want to hook up a monitor withVGA only to a laptop that has HDMI this adapter will work for you. I love using 2 screens at work and wanted to do so when I go back to school. I found a nice monitor second hand online for $15 and because this adapter was on sale for $12 I have a great setup for $27 as opposed to $90+ if I were to have bought a docking station. Also this adapter is very small and is less obvious than a docking station when tucked behind my laptop. Very nice purchase and easy-to-use – highly recommend.
